Merry Christmas

Better late than never right?
I do apologize for not posting this sooner, but I have been sooo busy.
Although I did spend some time tonight reading tutorials about how to change up my blog, is it weird that it was both fun and relaxing to do?

Our last day together before break was Pajama Day.

 Wake up Kinder! Despierta :)

And I didn't want to post this before my parents had the chance to open their gifts.
I'm not sure if the picture does our popscicle stick frame justice, but they did turn out super cute!

Thanks for Thinking of Me

How happy was I to find this

Christmas in K3

I apologize for being MIA.
I have been fighting off a cold/cough for the last couple of weeks, lost, and had to take a couple of days off.  Not the best time to be sick.

Anywho, hopefully I'll fully recover this weekend and be in better condition to complete assessments, parent gifts, Christmas activities, and clean up my class before break.
Huge, HUGE sigh....we still have 3 more days before our Christmas break.

But we did make these adorable Gingerbread faces,

Gingerbread houses with the characters inside,

and our December Writing sample, complete with cute reindeers.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Our turkey "chalkboards" came out so cute!
Two more days, then we're off for an entire week.

If anyone's interested in the masters, just let me know :)

1st Trimester Assesssments

This is the last week of the trimester, so we're busy assessing.
I had posted about ABC assessments here,
but I tweaked the student graph.

As I finished assessing each student on their letter I.D., I marked unknown letters and had students color letters identified correctly yellow.  I asked students if they saw more yellow squares or more white squares.
Students realized the more yellow they saw, the closer they were to reaching their goal.
My students were so excited to see so many yellow squares.
I was so excited when I had students come up to me and tell me how they're getting closer to their goals.
It's super to see students taking responsibility for their learning.

My Goals ABC

Mis Metas ABC

(Please note word:  aprenderé has an accent, Ññ have tildes)

I made a binder with a tab for each of my students so they can place their goal sheets.
We'll be working on goals for numbers and high frequency words also.

Spiders

I just realized I never published this post about our spider unit.
Better late than never, right?

11 students were scared of spiders and 7 were not,
loving our graph :)

We wrote interactively about spiders, then highlighted some
high frequency words.

Day of the Dead-Cute Chant

My kids loved this chant!
They're so cute, enjoy!

I have the chant if anyone's interested. :)

A sweet student, Berenice, made this awesome pasta skeleton for me for Día de los muertos,
super creative!

Day of the Dead-Remembering our Loved Ones

Today was such a fun day!
Sra. Arce put together an altar in her class and discussed some of the special items that may be used.
Día de los muertos is a cultural celebration, to remember our loved ones and their favorite items.
The skeletons, calacas, are dressed in funny outfits.
The skulls, calaveras, are decorated with bright colors.

Each student decorated their sugar skull with icing and foil.
My students didn't even try to sneak a taste, good for you! :)

I love how these calaveras came out, just gorgeous!

Lastly, we practiced writing numbers on a calendar.
¡Muy bien, muy bien, K3!
